Her name is Zazia and she lives or lived in Ukraine. I would so much like to know: is she still alive? How is she doing? I have a photo of her, with hair waving in the wind. The ice-cold storm from the east had yet to begin.

I found photos of Zazia taken by another Ukrainian woman on an image bank on the internet. How could those two women have known during that photo session what awaited their country?
I looked up the place where the photo was taken, somewhere in the middle of the country, not far from the Dnieper, the river that would play an important role in the war with Russia. What would it be like there now? Hopefully all is well. The Russian occupier never managed to terrorize this region.
Introverted and creepy
I carved Zazia from lime wood, her hair waving in front of her face. I gilded her eyes, creating an introverted gaze. Sometimes in the dark her gaze becomes creepy, when her golden eyes become glowing embers that stare at you silently in the darkness.
